Mission Statement
The mission of Lakeside Community Development Corporation is to preserve and create affordable housing opportunities through education, advocacy, and real estate development. Lakeside operates from the belief that diverse and inclusive communities are the ideal, but such diversity depends on diverse housing opportunities for people of different circumstances. Lakeside’s coordinated programs are targeted to eight Chicago North Side communities, including Rogers Park, Edgewater, Uptown, West Ridge, Lincoln Square, North Center, North Park, and Albany Park.
Primary Programs and Services
Lakeside's housing services program provides a wide range of housing counseling, information, and referral services to address the comprehensive needs of residents in the communities we serve. Our housing program operates on a model of continuing education, progressingfrom renting to buying to owning to successfully, so that ownership leads to the creation of personal wealth and long-term economic security.
Lakeside is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide housing counseling. This means that the agency has created and is following a formal counseling plan designed to meet the housing needs of residents in the communities we serve. Group and individual counseling services are available for renters, first-time home buyers, homeowners, and condominium owners and associations. Most services are free or are provided at a nominal charge.
